Meraloma Field Hockey

We will have four teams in the Vancouver Women's League (V.W.F.H.A.) for the 2023-24 season. There are seven divisions in the league and our teams range from Premier to Division 4. We are a great group of women that like to have a good time. Sound good? We are always looking for new members, so come on out to join us (females 13+ welcome)!

2023-24 Season

During the season (September to March) our teams practice on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Eric Hamber Field, a water-based astro turf. Games are held on Saturdays and Sundays at fields throughout Metro Vancouver.

We are still accepting new players for our Premier*, Division 1, Division 3 and Division 4 teams so please get in touch if you are interested in joining us.

Pre-season Social & Fitness sessions

Come join us at Connaught Park, the home of the Meraloma Club, to get back into the swing of things ahead of the upcoming season. These sessions are designed for athletes of all fitness levels, and will have an emphasis on fun and social connection! The Meraloma Clubhouse will be open, so feel free to stay for a drink after the session.

Thursday, Aug. 31st - 6:30-8:00pm at Connaught Park

Please meet on the grass field at the north side of the park (W. 10th Ave.), just east of the Meraloma Clubhouse.

Player Placement Night

New and returning players are encouraged to attend! We will use this practice session to find a good fit for all players in the club, with the goal of confirming our team rosters ahead of the season.

2023-24 Lomas Premier team

For 2023-24, our Premier team will affiliate with the Sea 2 Sky Premier team and play as Sea 2 Sky Lomas P. We have entered into this 1 year affiliation with Sea 2 Sky in order for both clubs to maintain a presence in the Premier division, while building our respective player bases ahead of the 2024-25 season. Our intention is to enter a Meraloma team in the Premier division in 2024-25.

Logistics for Sea 2 Sky Lomas Prem team:

Meraloma Premier players will register with the Meraloma Field Hockey Club and pay regular Meraloma Field Hockey dues.
Sea 2 Sky will provide the coach for the team.
Practices will take place during the Meraloma practice slot on Thursday evenings at Eric Hamber turf.
The Sea 2 Sky Lomas P team will be able to call up players from the Lomas Division 1 team throughout the season, as needed.

Meraloma Field Hockey History

Field hockey was first added to the Meraloma Club in 1974 with one team. Almost 50 years later, we are still competing in the Vancouver Women's League and our club has grown to four teams. Most of our members are between the ages of 20 and 60. We absolutely enjoy the energy and enthusiasm that our junior players bring to the turf but also appreciate the skill and knowledge of our seasoned veterans. Each member joins the club for various reasons including exercise and the love of the game. Most have become long-standing members in the Club because of the fun we have on and off the field.
