Welcome to the home of the women's field hockey section of the Meraloma Athletic Club located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Meraloma clubhouse is a Vancouver Heritage building in the heart of Kitsilano. Field hockey was added to the Meraloma club back in 1974 and has been competing in the women's league ever since.
Meraloma Field Hockey is a true women's club. Most of our members are between the ages of 20 and 60, and we absolutely enjoy the energy and enthusiasm that our junior players bring to the turf. These members have joined the club for various reasons, like exercise and love of the game but become members for years because we have so much fun on and off the field.
Currently we have teams in 4 out of the 5 divisions of the Vancouver Women's League (V.W.F.H.A.), of which, two of our teams, the Premier and Lomas 2, made it into the playoffs last season. This success can be attributed not only great players, but also our dedicated coaching staff of Robin D’Abreo, Dallas Plensky and Chris Fehst.
We are always looking for new members, whether you have years of experience or are new to the sport, surely, one of our four teams would suit the level of play you are looking for.
The Vancouver field hockey season begins in early September, takes a Christmas break of approximately a month and finishes up at the end of March. Practice times are determined at the beginning of each season, and are held at Eric Hamber Turf. Games are played on weekends at various turfs throughout the Lower Mainland.
